ISIC ORIENTATION DAY ( SEMESTER 1, 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR), A SUCCESSFUL START!
ISIC’S First Orientation Day (Semester 1, 2022 Academic year) commenced with a welcome ceremony attended by UTK dignitaries, ISIC executives, lecturers and staff, and nearly a hundred new students on May 8, 2022.
Director Liu opened the ceremony with an ISIC Director’s Report to the Plenary. A well-envisioned progress report has been presented as to the beginnings of the institute to its extending cooperation with international academic partners, successfully reaching beyond its target number of students, and, more importantly, acknowledging the people behind its successful launching.
On behalf of the UTK President, Assistant Professor Poorivat Kampeerapaappat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome speech. At the same time, Assistant Professor Dr. Saichol Chudjuarjeen, UTK Research and Development Director, congratulated the ISIC team and students for its endeavor and success.
Student representatives from Global Buddhism, Management, and Education fields expressed their gratitude for being part of UTK ISIC’s caliber education and their excitement to pursue and earn their postgraduate degrees with us.
Due to the pandemic, students yet cannot come physically. Thus, the ISIC team initiated a virtual introduction of UTK ISIC personnel and a campus tour.
The morning welcome ceremony culminated with Closing Remarks spoken in Chinese by General Tossaporn Homcharoen, the ISIC Board Chairman.
The afternoon session of the Orientation Day features talks about Thailand and UTK. The event unfolded with a video presentation showcasing Thailand’s Culture and Heritage. Afterwhich, Assistant Director Mr. Jiacheng Zhong shared his experience living in Thailand concerning accommodations, food, and visa.
The event proceeded with Talks about ISIC Academic Requirments for Graduation. Dr. Marlon Astillero, ISIC Assistant Director and Acting Head of the Management Science Department, explained Class Schedule, GPA, and Academic Calendar. Furthermore, Mr. Nico Irawan, Acting Head of the Education Department, informed students about Research and Publication.
The students were so eager and excited during the Open Forum discussions, where questions and concerns were raised chiefly about research and publication requirements and visa procedures, and ISIC executives gladly answered every concern to the delight of the students.
